Tours & Tastings

The Tasting Room is open 10:00 am to 5:00 pm, Monday through Sunday. For directions to Monte De Oro Winery, click here.

From time to time, on specific weekends, live entertainment can be enjoyed, and finger food/wine pairings will be offered. In addition, special wine tastings will be held. These events will be featured in the calendar and news section of this website. Monte De Oro eNews subscribers (see form below) will be the first to know what's going on.

Starting in January, 2010, guided tours of our vineyards, wine barrel basement and racking operation, and hospitality center will begin. Please visit our website often for updates and additional information.

The Tasting Room

Enjoying the delicious varieties of Monte De Oro wines in our spectacular Tasting Room – the crown of the Monte De Oro Winery – is a one-of-a-kind experience.

At the entrance, three sets of double, French open-glass doors lead into the great display room, giftshop and foyer. Guests walk past Monte De Oro’s award-winning wine displays and into the Main Tasting Room.

The 2,450 sq. ft. space has an ambiance that is sophisticated and elegant, but at the same time relaxing and comfortable. A warm, inviting atmosphere elevates everyone – from the wine novice to the experienced oenologist – even before glasses have been filled.

One of the most impressive focal points in the room is the picture window that looks out over the expansive outdoor veranda. Thirty four feet wide and 45 feet high, with two sets of tri-fold doors, it provides spectacular panoramic views out to Mount Palomar.

The Versailles pattern, chiseled travertine floor provides a cool setting complementing the serene taupe color of the room’s walls. Stone columns rise majestically into the air, bracing arches that support the thirty-foot, cathedral high ceiling. Suspended from the ceiling are six alabaster-domed chandeliers, each 50 inches in diameter and 63 inches in length. To sample our fine wines, guests make their way to one of two twenty-foot long wine bars made of luxurious, dark alder wood that line the left and right of the room. Souray pub tables in the center of the room encourage group gatherings.

And below your feet is the amazing 16 by 16 square foot glass floor which reveals the wine barrel room beneath – 900 plus barrels of quality wine inventory. The barrel basement, all 9,000 sq. ft., is kept at a temperature of approximately 60 degrees with 68% humidity, ideal for red wine barrel storage!
